This series of paintings is an exploration of religious iconography interpreted in my own world view. It depicts a deeply personal exploration of women as the very vessels of truth. I draw from classical, figurative forms and surrealist and pop elements to reconfigure women, creating multiple perspectives of their physical, metaphysical, and spiritual power. In doing so, I aim to rethink traditional female iconography, creating a new visual language to reframing woman as salvation, an antidote with the power to heal society to recreate the world.
QUADRIVIUM
This series is an exploration on the medieval university curriculum involving the “mathematical arts” of arithmetic, geometry, astronomy, and music. I explore the four paths of the quadrivium in my composition as I design a painting. Mathematics being a dot, arithmetic being the point in space, music as harmony making these point in time, and astronomy the combination of the point in space and time.
POSTMORTEM
This series is an examination of my own human emotions in a circular divine composition. This is a darker emotional series that brings personal struggles to light. In the circular shape I have explored how to create a harmonious composition where the eye is kept within this realm, contrasting the emotion in the human figure.
